Summary of the MATRIX's Work

The MATRIX team has accomplished vast growth in regard to service provision for young people in South Tyneside. Contribution to the team has developed with the appointment of new specialist young people's workers.

SUMMARY

They continue to implement the DAT's young people's plan and ensure that all the objectives of the plan are the focus of the service provided.

The LAC worker offers responsive service provision for young people within the 'Looked After System' and continues to provide one to one work, therapeutic group work whilst identifying gaps in the current service provision within CAMHS , working in partnership with social care and health.

The YOS worker continues to focus on delivery of targeted interventions where substance use is linked to offending and continues to work as part of the MATRIX framework.

Outreach and Youth Issues workers offer both generic and specialist substance focus, using an innovative approach to engage young people. The work undertaken covers generic community based development, working in partnership with community education.
